Walker
Ewart was a teacher of French and Spanish for 23 years; now
working in the Civil Service.
Voluntary
arts involvement: was Chairman of Bangor Drama Club, of Bangor
Drama Festival and of the Association of Ulster Drama Festivals.
A member
of Bangor Drama Club for over 25 years.
Appeared in several AUDF finals in the Grand Opera House and
the Lyric Theatre, Belfast most notably 'A Doll's House' with
Bangor, 'The Gentle Island' with Bangor (this play later went
to Florida), 'Observe the Sons of Ulster
' (winners)
with Bangor and ' Amadeus' (winners) with Holywood.
Directed
and acted in many productions for Bangor Drama Club - favourites
being The Mai - Marina Carr, Dancing at Lughnasa and Living
Quarters- Brian Friel, Lady Windermere's Fan and A Woman of
No Importance- Oscar Wilde.
Co-directed Noel Coward's 'Hay Fever', which won the AUDF
finals in 1984, and directed 'Say Something Happened' by Alan
Bennett, which represented N.Ireland in the British Finals,
held in the Lyric Theatre in June 2001.
Adjudicated
the following festivals -
1. Full-length festivals: the Churches' Drama League (Belfast),
City of Derry, Enniskillen, Mid-Ulster (Carrickmore), Moneyglass,
Newtownabbey, Larne, Shercock (Co Cavan), Newry and Clare.
2. One-act festivals: Castlereagh, Cavan, Maudebawn, Newtownabbey
and Belfast (CDL), and Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster
3. Carrickmore travelling festival.
4. All-Ireland One-act finals in Ennis in 2003; the All-Ireland
Full-length Confined Finals in Tralee in 2005 and the N. Ireland
One-act finals in 2006.
