On
behalf of Lislea Drama Committee I welcome you to our Silver
Jubilee Festival 2006.
This
is a special year for so many people associated with the Festival.
It is a time to reflect on the laughter and tears, the sharing
of memories of times past and absent friends and the realization
of how far we have come since 1982 when the 'dream was first
realized.
Over
the next two weeks we will be entertained by many old friends
of the festival with two exciting new plays being performed
for the first time on the circuit. Looking to the future we
hope to showcase the acting talent of Lislea and surrounding
area with a youth group making their debut performance.
We are delighted to welcome back our distinguished adjudicator
Roma Tomelty Carnegie who first came to Lislea in 1983. Roma's
support at that time was instrumental in raising the profile
of a small rural community Drama Festival to one, which is
now respected through out Ireland.
The
committee is very grateful to BT, our main sponsor, for their
generous financial support over the last eight years. We must
also offer deep appreciation to our sponsors many of whom
have provided sponsorship for several years and some indeed
since the beginning of the Festival.
I
offer sincere thanks to all those patrons who have loyally
supported us over the years. It is your faithful attendance
that has helped to sustain and encourage us during the last
25 years. I hope you find this years Silver Jubilee an entertaining
and enjoyable experience.
